My hard line on using AI

I use AI to write code, often.

But there is a hard line I will absolutely not cross with AI:

Creating content for human consumption.

I have never and will never violate this rule. Not even once.

I manually write every email I have ever sent you, and ever will send you. Every post on this blog, every article I write.

Every second, every word, every exercise of every course I have ever created, and ever will create, are created by myself.

Even 100% of the words on the Boosted Code webpage (linked below) was hand-written by me. None of it by AI at all.

Why my hard stance on this?

In a word: trust.

If you ever use AI to create text for other humans to read, and they realize it...

Then from that day forward, you are known to them as someone who is willing to mis-represent an LLM's words as your own.

Even if you only did it that one time, they'll never really forget. They will never be able to fully trust your writing ever again. Every time they read any communication from you, in the back of their mind, they will worry they're not really speaking to you.

I do think it's fine to use AI to improve the presentation, give you feedback to improve it, et cetera. As long as the core of the communication truly comes from you.

And there is a place for using AI to create something, where you make clear it's AI, and everyone recognizes the value of doing so. In other words, there are exceptions.

But if you ever mis-represent AI generated info as your own... Well, that does no favors for how people think of you.

So my recommendation, if you would like it:

Never do it. Whether it's an email you send, a blog post you write, or anything else, never use AI to create content for other humans, as a substitute for the genuine communication they expect from you.

If you did so in the past, forgive yourself for not choosing better, and start anew today.

I say all this because building trust is a key part of Boosted Code's 'Financial Security' pillar. It's the T in an incredibly important acronym called KLT, as explained in that video of the Virtual Private Speaking course.
