Boosted Code
If you work as a software developer, data professional, devops or network engineer... Or any other role where you are solving problems with code...
It's no secret that right now is:
The STRANGEST Moment
In the history of our profession.
- Anxiety has never been higher.
- AI is re-writing the rules, faster than anyone can keep up.
- And no one knows what will happen next.
The core idea of Boosted Code is that:
There IS A Solution.
And that solution has 3 pillars:
- Financial Security
- Agentic Coding
- Engineering Foundations.
Let's start with the first one...
Because I bet you have never heard anyone talk about financial security for technology professionals before.
And if we are honest...
That's Where All The Anxiety Comes From.
Right?
And it is natural to feel this way, given everything happening in our industry, and how fast everything keeps changing...
Every month, every week, even by day.
Getting the right technical skills is important for job security, to be sure.
But just as important are the non-technical factors, which include:
- Honing your all-important (and oft-neglected) “soft” skills,
- Teaching others how to solve the challenges they face (also called "thought leadership", by the way),
- Building a robust professional network of peers who respect and look up to you...
Accomplishing all of this, ideally...
Without Even Leaving Your House.
THAT is where financial security comes from in this new age of the technology profession.
So that more than before, opportunities come to YOU, rather than you having to hunt and scramble and compete.
And that leads to the second pillar:
Agentic Coding.
Meaning AI-assisted software development... using LLMs as powerful leverage to boost your productive output, making you more valuable to employers than ever before.
While many think of AI as a threat, I want you to see it as:
A MASSIVE Opportunity.
The fact is, there is a tremendous amount of sloppy thinking on this topic right now.
And I am not talking about "vibe coder" hobbyists, who don’t have anything to do with what I’m talking about. This entire essay is for people who work in tech. I assume you are a genuine professional.
But even among our peers, it's time to amplify our normal standards of engineering rigor and discipline to how we use AI coding agents.
And when you learn to do this, you find it becomes easy to not just keep up, but to...
Stay FAR Ahead Of The Curve.
That said, success with agentic coding has its own foundations that you simply must have in place, if you want to win.
The most important of which is:
Software Engineering Foundations.
This may come as a surprise.
And to be clear, I'm referring to stuff like SOLID principles, system design, test-driven development, modules interfaces, logging, and more.
I think every competent professional agrees that traditional engineering expertise like this still matters...
But are these "old school" skills really the most important factor for successfully thriving with AI coding agents?
Maybe yes. Because the evidence is in, and it has become abundantly clear:
AI Does Not Add.
It MULTIPLIES.
Everywhere right now, engineering leaders are realizing the most skilled and senior people tend to be the most productive with AI coding agents.
In other words: AI amplifies the coding, software development, and system design ability you already have.
The obvious corollary being if you do not have that foundation in place, there is nothing for AI to multiply. Zero times any number is still zero.
If you do not already believe this, have a heartfelt conversation with ChatGPT about it. And be sure to check its primary sources: industry studies are spewing out left and right now, making it obnoxiously obvious that AI coding agents require a real foundation of software skills to unlock their greatest potential.
And that is:
Great News For You.
Because software development foundations includes topics such as:
- Object-oriented topics like SOLID principles, creating powerful type hierarchies, design patterns
- Automated testing tools like unit tests and integration tests, mocks, fixtures, and so on (all of which coding agents heavily rely on, by the way)
- Scalable data-processing algorithms, relying on memory efficiency as the key to processing "big data"... without memory efficiency falling off a cliff
- Higher-order "metaprogramming" techniques for concise yet powerfully leveraged code, libraries & internal tools
- Practical engineering tools like logging patterns, error handling, modular code organization, and more
- And one of the not-so-obvious reasons why all these matter is agentic coding's giant...
Code Quality "Drift" Problem.
It turns out code quality matters a great deal when using AI coding agents.
And I mean so-called "traditional" factors like maintainability, readability, modularity, encapsulation...
All that old school jazz.
And if you blatantly violate every one of these, creating a spaghetti monster of a codebase that torments the hearts of senior devs and makes infants burst into tears...
Coding agents, it turns out, can handle that just fine.
Until suddenly, without warning:
They Don't.
Coding agents handle spaghetti-monster code with grace and ease, until they hit a wall:
- Running out of context window,
- Burning up more tokens than you can afford,
- Or just simply reaching a level of hyper-complexity that exceeds what even current frontier models can successfully handle.
It is entirely possible for a codebase to become so corrupted and warped, an infinite amount of tokens cannot fix it. Not in the time you can afford to wait.
And suddenly the most powerful AI available to you is utterly hopeless at helping you ship that critical security fix that must make it into production right now...
Giving you no choice but to stumble into the arena with this monster you have created, red in tooth and claw, and try to fix the code yourself.
At that moment, you realize:
Your Vibe Coding Ways Have Brought You To Ruin.
Long before, lackluster code quality forces your coding agent to burn MORE tokens to finish even the simplest of tasks, and to finish them poorly.
As Simon Willison, co-creator of the acclaimed Django project, said:
"One of the magic tricks about [coding agents] is they're incredibly consistent. If you've got a codebase with a bunch of patterns in, they will follow those patterns almost to a tee...
There's a lot to be said for keeping your codebase high quality, because the agent will then add to it in a high quality way."
Again, there are industry studies for this; look them up if you need to. Though this one should be obvious to you, frankly.
In any event, I hope you are starting to see how these three pillars relate to each other, and to you. Those three again being:
- Financial Security,
- Agentic Coding, and
- Engineering Foundations.
Spanning all of these is another layer, which I call:
Meaningful Community.
Without a community of like-mindedly-ambitious professionals, all on the same upward path...
Well, frankly it's just hard to make it work.
I do not just mean it's more difficult. It's that your probability of success plummets. You need each other for feedback, fellowship, encouragement, and even for accountability.
It is also true that the right group of people is hard to find.
Certainly you can find folks who are pursuing one of the three pillars. Maybe two, if you're lucky.
Beyond that?
Good luck.
And there is also the question of:
Education.
In other words: How do you even learn all this?!
Especially if you are working full time (or more than full time), and especially if you have a family to take care of, and presumably want to see once in a while.
Now, to be sure, you could certainly cobble together a self-education path for those fundamentals which have been around for decades.
The basics like OOP, TDD, et cetera. Even if that requires sorting through low-quality, time-wasting material; the signal to noise problem is real.
But agentic coding is brand new. There are very few courses you can learn from, and which do not cater to the "slop vibe" mentality which I pray is beneath you.
And then what about the "financial security" pillar I started with? By which I mean:
- Job security,
- Professional fulfillment (i.e. attaining a job you enjoy),
- Confidence you can replace your income if needed,
- Having the ability to get a new job if you have a bad manager or poor opportunities for advancement,
- Growing and sustaining a quality professional network without exhausting yourself,
- Becoming able to earn income outside of your job...
This is all what I mean when I say “financial security” for technology professionals (i.e. you).
Because frankly...
NO ONE Is Teaching That, At All.
Even though, in my view, financial security is the most important of the three pillars, when you get right down to it.
Plus the meaningful community to tie it all together, and make it possible for you to follow through to success.
So it is easy to see why these problems are not easy to solve.
Which is why it has taken me a full decade to come up with a solution.
A solution called:
Boosted Code
Boosted Code is a professional learning community. All three of these words matter:
1. It is for professionals in technology. I expect this is not a hobby for you, but a craft you enjoy, and take pride in.
And also you have a certain level of ambition in what you want to achieve, the speed at which you want to progress, and - ultimately - the impact and legacy you intend to create.
2. It is a learning community. Which is not just about memorizing information. I’m talking about something deeper.
Because there is a difference between what I call the “information level” of learning, which is about memorizing facts (or purported facts), doing some simple reasoning based on that information, and parroting it back to others.
In contrast to the ability level of learning...
Which means you are able to do things you could not do before. You have new capabilities, that you can easily apply to solve hard problems, expanding what is possible for you.
Leading to the 3rd and most important word:
3. It is a community . Of professional peers, with similar intentions of higher learning. Potentially giving you the benefits of feedback, fellowship, encouragement, and even for accountability.
And like any good community, these benefits are...
NOT Automatic.
Just because you are permitted to join a community, does not mean you are part of that community.
That is something you must earn. And you do that by:
- Showing up consistently,
- Participating in positive ways,
- Demonstrating your professionalism, and
- Learning as you help others learn.
Something to think about.
And as I said, this is a professional learning community.
Which brings us to...
The Curriculum
This is a professional training curriculum like no other.
It is like a PhD-level curriculum in becoming a formidable technology professional.
It is different from other learning options in 2 key ways.
First, this is heavily action oriented.
As an instructor and mentor, my teaching philosophy is built on the idea that:
You ONLY Learn By Building.
In other words, the instructional videos, reading materials, et cetera are not where the real learning takes place.
You still need that instructional material, of course. But it’s just teaching you at the information level.
But our purpose is to train you at the ability level. And you do that by taking the information you learn, and applying it, building in a guided way.
I am sure you can relate to all this.
It’s not an edutainment-style “Netflix ‘n Chill” experience. If that’s what you want, go somewhere else, while the rest of us are learning how to actually build Netflix.
This curriculum, which again is made especially for working technology professionals, is organized in the same 3 areas I mentioned at the start:
- Financial Security,
- Agentic Coding, and
- Engineering Foundations.
And with ongoing new content as well, which I will explain briefly. But let’s dive into each section:
Financial Security (For Technology Professionals)
This section of the curriculum is designed to change your professional context.
That means creating a world for yourself where:
- More of your peers know of you and your name (even if they have never met you),
- You have a positive reputation that proceeds you, and
- You have powerful assets that attract great opportunities, and
- “pre-sell” you before you even need your next job.
Most Technology Professionals Do NOT Live In This Context...
Which means they are trapped in a cycle of spam-applying for jobs, doing endless interviews with skeptical strangers, and having to constantly “hustle” to create some form of job security (if you can even call it that).
Our intention is to turn this on its head, with a series of unique professional courses that include:
Virtual Public Speaking
- Why virtual public speaking is both easier and more rewarding than you might think
- How to do it, step by step, even if you have never done anything like it before
- Building your professional network much faster than you can the “old fashioned” way

- Keys to great writing, and how to get better
- Expanding your reach, and getting more people reading what you write
Income Opportunities for Technology Thought Leaders
I have to make a special comment about this unique course...
Because it teaches the exact methods I use to earn over $600 per hour, teaching live workshops to engineers and other technology professionals.
Can you do the same?
Maybe. It is not easy.
Let me clearly state I do NOT guarantee you will earn even a single penny from this. Or from anything else in Boosted Code, for that matter.
Plus even as someone who does this at the highest level, it’s something I do only part time; a few hours per week at most.
Achieving this high level of income requires a magnitude of work and follow-through that most people frankly do not have. For most people, it will take a minimum of 1-2 years to advance to this hourly rate, again doing it part-time, if they ever attain it at all.
But I will tell you this much:
This Is The ONLY Course In The World
That teaches how to do it. I am quite sure no one else is teaching this, or has ever taught it, anywhere.
After sharing these techniques with only a few folks in the past, it is now available to the public (and for a much lower price) as part of the Boosted Code curriculum.
So these are all the course modules in the ‘Financial Security’ part of the Boosted Code Curriculum...
Leading us to the next part:
Agentic Coding.
Also called “agentic engineering” and “ai-assisted coding”. Leveraging LLM-powered coding agents to improve and accelerate the process of software development, to a high standard of professional quality.
This is the big area that most of us are thinking about lately, and which is also rapidly evolving.
As a result, it is also the category I expect the majority of new Boosted Code course material will be created, for the foreseeable future.
The courses available right now:
Agentic Coding Foundations
- Understanding Coding Agents
- Providers, Models, And how to choose an LLM
- Build Vs Plan Modes
- Prompt Sequencing Strategies
- Spec-Driven Development for Coding Agents
- Sessions and Session Management
- Agent rules: how to work with with them, their challenges and shortcomings
- Overview Of Agent Skills (with examples)
- How coding agents decide when to use agent skills
- Creating quality agent skills, with custom tools and resources
- Agent Skill Traps
- Mature Codebase Strategies
Sandboxing AI Coding Agents
This is the first release of an important course on how to sandbox your coding agents to protect your machine.
While I am planning to expand this course, teaching additional sandboxing options before the end of the year...
This first version teaches you the single most flexible, powerful, and adaptable sandboxing method that will work with a broad range of development situations.
Even when other sandboxing techniques fall short, or have artificial limitations, this "power technique" will work.
In addition, for those of you on Windows, this course tells you an even BETTER solution that it baked into modern Windows, that you can use immediately.
Again, I already have a roadmap of new material to add to this course soon...
But everything mentioned above is available now.
Code Quality Evaluations
This is not a course, so much as a list of useful lists.
Because whether you are developing code by hand, or using a coding agent, or both...
It's important to have clear and objective criteria for evaluating code quality.
"This looks good" isn't good enough. You need a more systematic and detailed approach, if you want to be successful in the long term.
Hence, this "course', which currently has 74 detailed specific evaluation questions across 8 different dimensions of code quality:
- User interface and experience
- Code logic and correctness
- Naming and clarity
- Code organization and modularity
- Code interface design (Not UI/UX, but inside the code)
- Error handling and robustness
- Comments and documentation
- Readiness for review/merge/deployment
These are valuable to reference yourself when you are reviewing code...
But they may be even MORE valuable to use as input to a coding agent, directing it to review the code with a specific lens of focus.
You can even package them into an agent skill, or use them in other ways in your AI coding process.
Voice Control Of AI Coding Agents
This one’s short. It teaches you how to set up local (and thus privacy-protecting) real-time voice transcription, using free software, and how to use it to control your coding agent.
More Coming
Quite a few new course modules are planned for Agentic Coding and Engineering in the coming months and beyond, including:
- Advanced Agent Skills
- Using Pi (an extremely advanced and highly customizable coding agent)
- Running persistent agents on private servers (with remote access and control)
- Creating evals (the agentic-coding equivalent of unit tests)
- Software factory strategies
- UX and UI design via coding agents
- Embedding coding agents within other applications (that’s what OpenClaw does, for example)
And more, prioritized by the popular vote of Boosted Code members, and which course they want to see next.
There is clearly a great deal going on in this Agentic Coding pillar...
But just as important, if a bit less sexy, is the Engineering Foundations pillar. Which itself has two broad categories:
1. Software Development Foundations
This is important for verifying the coding agent is on track, deciphering issues that the AI cannot, and allowing you to “drive” your coding agent to create increasingly sophisticated and powerful software systems.
Plus there’s the fact that no engineering team in their right mind will hire you as a software engineer if you can’t actually code. Regardless of whether they expect you to use AI code generation tools or not.
Bringing us to the second part:
2. System Design
This is important for the same reasons, but at a different level. Some people think it’s MORE important than #1, even, in the age of agentic AI coding.
Regardless of what you believe, I will assume you agree with nearly every full-time technology professional that both of these are going to be important, valuable, and out-right essential for many years to come.
That said, here are the Boosted Code courses for software development foundations...
All of which show their examples in Python (since that code has to be in some language); but teach their lessons generically, in a way that applies to every programming language:
Object-Oriented Programming
- The Single-Responsibility Principle
- Inheritance
- Refactoring For Inheritance
- Interfaces
- Methods And Inheritance
- Access Control
- Properties
- Properties And Refactoring
- Factories, Class Methods And Static Methods
- Design Patterns
Test-Driven Development
This is arguably the most important course in the software development foundations, by the way. For the simple reason that coding agents can do almost nothing without leveraging automated tests.
- Foundations of Automated Testing
- Types of test: Unit Tests, Integration Tests, and More
- Test-Driven Development
- Detailed Test Assertion Types & Strategies
- Fixtures
- Parameterized Tests (And Subtests)
- Mock Objects
- Patching With Mocks
- Mocking Strategies: Pros and Cons
Memory-Efficient Scaling
- Memory-Efficient Algorithms And Spatial Complexity
- Foundations Of Generators
- Generator Design Patterns
- The Iteration Abstraction
- Scalable Composability For Internal Data Pipelines
- Comprehension Data Structures And Their Relation Iteration Patterns
Metaprogramming
- Variable Arguments and Argument Unpacking
- Functions As Objects
- Writing Simple Decorators
- Stateful Decorators and More
- Higher-Order Decorators
- Class-Based Decorators
Production Code Case Studies
- A detailed narrated walkthrough of real-world production codebases
- DateInterval class
- Program: lookupemails.py
- DownloadDir class
- EmailAnonymizer class
- "Out of context" Analysis of A Special Method
- Bonus Q&A Session Recordings
Practical Engineering Topics
- Module Organization, Design And Refactoring
- Logging Patterns
- Errors and Exceptions
- Command-Line Interfaces
Just by itself, this section on software development foundations will be enough to keep you busy for many months, and maybe over a year.
But we haven’t even got to the second engineering foundation yet:
High-Level System Design.
Right now, at its launch, the Boosted Code curriculum includes one course for system design...
And it’s a monster.
This one course will take you 30-60 hours of concentrated effort to finish. If you invest 5-10 hours per week, it will take you a minimum of 6 weeks and maybe months to complete.
This monster course is called:
DevOps Foundations
It is a one-of-a-kind and extremely hands-on course, in which you learn:
- Principles of Infrastructure-As-Code
- Virtual Machine Management
- SSH Protocol for remote system control and communication
- Configuration and deployment of web applications on Linux
- Leveraging version control (Git) for controlling deployment
- Web server configuration including automatic HTTPS
- Back-end Database configuration and DB migrations
- Local development strategies for Windows, macOS, and Linux
I created this first, because it’s the low-level foundation that ALL system design depends on...
At least if you want to creating systems that can actually be implemented, and not just draw imaginary diagrams on a whiteboard.
And it sets the stage for more advanced system design topics, including:
- Architecture design
- Message queue systems
- Vertical and horizontal scalability
- Database systems, and the trade-offs of different DB architectures
- Defensive security strategies
- Microservice architectures
- Caching and cache management
- Load balancing
All of which are planned to be covered in future Boosted Code courses, in addition to the already vast curriculum.
This covers most (not all) of the curriculum, which brings us to...
Boosted Code’s Professional Community.
As mentioned, like any real community, you must earn your place in it. No one can give you that just because you pay a membership fee.
That said, Boosted Code includes incentives for positive participation in the community...
So that those who contribute the most, who uplift everyone the most, get rewarded the most.
And while I don’t want to reveal the incentives publicly, for people not yet in its community...
It’s easy to see how this makes it better for everyone. Including you.
And the community includes:
- A private Slack workspace,
- A weekly group meeting, and
- Multiple weekly “hangout” Zoom sessions.
The last one being for socializing with other Boosted Code members.
These sessions are not recorded, and the instructor does not attend. They are just for you to hang out with other members, talking and networking and learning together.
Which is by design. It’s a space for you all to get to know each other, without any authority figure looming around.
And best of all:
It’s A Vetted Crowd.
You know everyone is serious about their success in all three pillars, because they have invested in Boosted Code.
And you have much in common to talk about, and to learn from each other.
How To Join
You will be shocked at how inexpensive this is.
And here is where I am going to make some people angry.
You see, the courses in the Boosted Code curriculum have NOT been cheap in the past.
In fact, some have spent many thousands, including quite a few individuals who have spent well over $10,000 USD in total to get SOME of the courses. Not even all of them.
If you don’t count the new courses I have created just for Boosted Code, that have never been sold before, and just add up what I charged in the past for the others...
The total adds up to over $17,000 USD.
That’s not an “estimated value”. That’s what people actually paid to buy the different course modules in the Boosted Code curriculum before today.
And except for some of the biggest spenders, it did not include anything like the Boosted Code community, either.
But after years of creating world-class professional trainings for technology professionals (“world-class” according to the participants - see the Appendix B for what they have to say...)
And having a backlog of many more trainings that I want to create...
I have decided to move to a different structure, that will allow more people to partake for lower cost...
And also allow me to focus a greater fraction of my time on making new courses, trainings and workshops for Boosted Code members.
Plus making this affordable to a wider range of people. I’d rather charge a little and have many great folks in Boosted Code, than charge a lot and have a select few.
And so the price of Boosted Code is just $100 USD per month.
It’s an ongoing subscription; you have access to the curriculum and community only while your subscription is active.
But I think you can see it’s a bargain compared to what people have paid before.
Subscribe For $100 USD Per Month
Questions And Answers
If you have a question not answered here, send it to: service@boostedcode.com
- Am I guaranteed this will help me get a job or increase my income?
-
Absolutely not. I guarantee no such thing.
That depends on your participation, execution and follow-through. No one has control over that except you.
You are being offered a wealth of extremely high quality training material, plus a professional community, at a remarkably low price. If you do not see the massive value, then this is not for you.
- Do you really black list people from re-subscribing who have canceled?
-
Yes.
This isn't a bunch of tricks 'n hacks peddled by some influencer. Benefiting from Boosted Code takes work, and it takes consistency. If you are not willing to do that, this will not help you.
Boosted Code is a marathon. Not a sprint.
If you think you're going to inhale the curriculum in a few weeks and transform your career, do not enroll. Save your time and money. That's like buying a gym membership for a month, not getting jacked, then canceling and buying something else.
I want nothing to do with people like that and I certainly do not want them in this community.
- Do you use AI to create the course content?
-
No. Never.
Every second of every course video is made manually. Every word of all the instructional text, every video script, and every coding exercise are entirely written by hand. Just like every word of this entire webpage was written by hand, and every email I send to the Boosted Code email newsletter is written by hand.
It’s not like code, where you can automate objectively verifying its quality, and feed those measurements back into the agentic loop to correct its shortcomings. (As is taught in the Agentic Coding pillar.)
Some people use AI to create content intended for humans. I have never done that, and cannot imagine I ever will. The quality is never even close to acceptable.
- How did you create so many courses, then?
-
It’s less work than writing a book.
For what it’s worth, many of the techniques I use to create high-quality course material are taught in the ‘Financial Security’ pillar.
- How long do I have access to the course material?
So long as your subscription is active. You can cancel at any time; however once your current paid month runs out, your access to the curriculum and the community will end.
- Can I cancel at any time? How does that work?
-
Yes, you can cancel your subscription at any time.
Please note there are NO REFUNDS on Boosted Code payments. If you cancel, you still have access until the end of the current billing period. Once that date has passed, your access to the curriculum and community will end, and you will not be charged again.
- How long will it take me to go through the course curriculum?
-
Realistically: a minimum of 1 year.
This assumes you consistently invest 5 or more hours per week of focused study time. The Boosted Code curriculum is vast.
It’s possible someone could “speed run” through it more quickly; if they did it full time, they might be able to complete everything in a few months. But few people will want to do that.
Also, by the time you finish, there’s going to be new course material added. It might even be added faster than you can progress through what’s already there! A high quality problem - it means you get to pick and choose.
- Will I get to ask the instructor questions?

Boosted Code includes a weekly session where the instructor will select the best questions, and answer them in a video. Generally he won’t answer all of them, unless there are only a few questions that week. Instead, he will pick what he considers the best questions, and answer as many of them as time allows.
- Will the instructor be in the Slack community?
-
Rarely. It’s mainly there for you to meet and network with other Boosted Code members.
- What if I want more access to the instructor?
-
That’s part of how we reward those who contribute the most to the community! Again, I don’t want to reveal the details publicly, but this is part of how members are incentivized to positively contribute.
- If something in the course material is not clear to me or confusing, what can I do?
-
That is considered a bug in the course material, and is a high priority to fix. File a support request, and we’ll rapidly fix it, if it is possible to do so.
- Do you accept PayPal?
No.
- How long does each course module take to complete?
-
It varies, but many of them will take between 10-20 hours of focused effort for the typical experienced technology professional. A few will take less; some will take much longer.
- Previously you were selling this material for many thousands of dollars. Why switch to this lower-priced subscription model?
-
I did not like how the higher prices exclude so many people who can benefit from this. Also, those higher price points require time-consuming sales calls, which is not how I want to do business.
- I previously bought one of the courses. Can I get that credited?
-
No.
Because of the massive curriculum included, it is just not economically viable to offer it at this low price while crediting prior purchases. I recommend you focus on all the new material you are getting, along with the community access.
Plus, it is not directly comparable: you have permanent access to the courses you paid for, while Boosted Code is a subscription.
- I have another question.
-
Send it to service@boostedcode.com and we’ll answer ASAP.
Appendix A: Principles For Teaching
The follow are the principles the instructor and his team follow, in order to create high quality learning experiences and training materials for Boosted Code members:
-
Doing and building are where real learning takes place. When creating a new training module, start by asking what students should be able to do and build after completing the training. Then create hands-on exercises to give them the experience of doing and building that. And finally, create lectures that teach the information needed to do those exercises.
-
Never use AI to generate content intended for humans - either public content, or private Boosted Code training material. It destroys trust like nothing else.
-
For common error situations, design the exercise so the student will trigger that error; understand what it means; and then learn how to fix it. That way when they encounter the error in practice, they will recognize the situation, and know what to do.
-
When doing research, don't ever believe something just because an AI says it.
-
Do not consider information to be verified, until one of us [meaning: one of the teaching staff] has personally reproduced it.
-
Source your information from primary sources (such as official reference manuals) whenever possible. It's okay to use chat AI to find those primary sources, or to find the needle in some primary-source haystack. But once that's identified, prefer the primary source.
-
You can use AI to help yourself understand what's in a primary source. But it should be a temporary crutch. If not, then something is wrong.
-
When there are no primary sources available, or none that are authoritative enough, we must validate it ourselves. We do this by inspecting source code, building projects, running clear experiments, and applying the scientific method, with 'reproducability' being the highest standard.
-
Always prefer opensource solutions, whenever viable. Do everything possible to avoid proprietary lock-in.
-
Always attempt to identify the underlying first principles that allow people to create solutions, rather than memorizing steps. Emphasize these in the teaching.
-
Prefer solutions that are likely to be future-proof and adaptable to future changes in technology, even if they are a bit harder to learn now. A skill with longevity is more worth learning than a skill without.
-
The intention of Boosted Code is health, wealth, happiness and fulfillment for every technology professional. Keep this in mind for everything we do.
Appendix B: Copious Written And Video Testimonials Praising Courses In The Boosted Code Curriculum And Other Previous Works By The Instructor
Written Testimonials
Initially, I was unsure about joining, but after starting the Bootcamp, I'm certain it was exactly what I needed. It was the right decision, and I'm truly your biggest advocate."
The course material demystifies things like testing and mocking, test-driven development, decorators and other things in simple but straightforward ways. Individually, the courses in the boot camp are priceless references, but I also found large benefit from the Slack and Zoom sessions.
You know, I've never been afraid to dig into the Python libraries that I'm using, find out how they work and what they're doing. But I've noticed that since completing the course, I'm able to dig a lot deeper and understand a lot more.
And not only that, but it's also extended to my own coding, where I can see a lot more of the project ahead of time before I'm even writing one line of code. How things should fit together and how to make my code more maintainable, more testable.
It's really been a great way to level up my Python, and I would certainly recommend Powerful Python to anyone at any level to help increase their Python skills.
Thanks Powerful Python, I figured how to learn a complex programming language like Python from scratch. I developed enough courage to not get scared to open any of the source code of the Python modules other developers built, because now i am curious to understand and learn the patterns they used.
I also learned the importance of test driven development and am building my team at work and constantly pushing boundaries of my QA team to embrace the concept of test driven development. It's hard as hell, but immensely satisfying.
In the process of learning all the courses in Powerful Python I developed a mental capacity to imagine matured object oriented models regardless of the language (Python or Java) and I am able to easily abstract technical complexities and converse with functional and non tech savvy people in a manner they understand and grasp stuff easily.
Powerful Python uses a fantastic "labs" format to get you to really practice and learn the content. He writes unit tests, and you write the code to make the tests pass. It's extremely effective and enjoyable.
I've learned a ton of production-worthy techniques. For example, the average Python tutorial will teach you how to read and use decorators. Powerful Python will get you to understand them, be able to write them, and then bend them to your absolute will to do amazing things!
Their coverage of generators has also transformed the way I work with geometry and graphics in Python.
I always wanted to know how Python developers were able to write such amazing and extensive libraries, but I couldn't find the right fit. Most material out there is either too broad (books) or too narrow (blog post). PP offered an opinionated approach to software development in Python, with lots of exercises and direct feedback from the Powerful Python instructor. In this case, opinionated is an excellent approach as it guides you to learn what matters to get your job done, without worrying about obscure methods or practices that are almost never used.
PP moved me from Python enthusiast to Pythonista!
Material is presented in a digestible manner and the exercises help to solidify your understanding.
Given the plethora of courses on the subject, it might be tempting to improve skills incrementally by wading through blog posts, tutorials, and StackOverflow queries. These resources in fact are repetitive, unstructured, and can be overwhelming.
If you want to make fast progress towards your goals, have a systematic understanding of the language, and avoid wasting time by re-learning low-level concepts across various materials, Powerful Python is the surefire way to go. Soon you will find that you are incorporating advanced Python features and software engineering concepts in your own codebase.
If you're in that stage of your Python journey where you're beyond the ‘basics' and looking to take it to the next level, this is course for you. A while back I found myself in a rut where I wasn't making the leaps I was during the beginning of my Python quest. Luckily I decided to purchase the book ‘Powerful Python.' It was the best decision I could have made at the time. Within just a few weeks, I started incorporating advanced features into my code, in particular, decorators.
When it comes to decorators, there's some basic tutorials out there that can help but unlike those other tutorials, the Powerful Python book was able to explain them in such great detail and allow me to understand not only the ‘how', but just as importantly, the ‘why.' Furthermore, the examples he provides are not the typical unrealistic kinds I'd find in so many other tutorials; his examples helped solidify in my brain the purpose and true power of decorators. The main point is – I started writing my own decorators soon after that were able to solve several obstacles I was facing. Actions speak louder than words and the fact that I was able to utilize this feature after reading his book should speak volumes.
The other great decision I made was join Powerful Python. This is an extensive course which goes over many of the topics that never get mentioned in other tutorials such as test driven development and logging. I had never written a single test before joining PP! What's more scary is until joining the Powerful Python, I did not even comprehend or appreciate the concept of writing tests for my code. Powerful Python provides the content in such a way that you truly appreciate the ‘why' while still learning the ‘how.'
One of the best features are the workshop labs. This is where your brain actually begins to grasp the topic presented. The labs are set up in a way that allows you to truly test your understanding of the various concepts presented in the course. Furthermore, many of the lab solutions (which are provided) include powerful and downright impressive algorithms. I would spend hours simply re-typing the algorithms used in the solutions in order to make myself become a better programmer.
Long story short – there are unlimited amounts of Python “beginner” courses and tutorials out there. However, there is a huge shortage in “intermediate/advanced” content. If you are one of those people like me that gets bored quickly and needs that new challenge to take things to the next level, then Powerful Python is the perfect choice.
I've only been able to work through the Pythonic Object-Oriented Programming course so far, but I love the video lessons, explanations and maybe, most of all, the exercises and challenges at the end of the lessons in the form of scenarios and tests. It's an absolutely brilliant idea and approach. I loved every minute I spent working through them. It gave me bite-sized, realistic and fun challenges to apply what I'd just learned.
It's changed the way I think about classes, objects and OO and how I can use them and apply it to my own code. And improve old code I've already written when I revisit it.
I'm looking forward to working through the additional courses and topics. I know the other courses are structured the same way and aimed at intermediate to advanced Python skills and what I need to understand about them to make sure I grasp the important Python concepts correctly... so I can move myself and my skills to the next level.
The contents are broad and they are taken apart to be digested and put them back later together in a seamless way through the labs, which are a great resource for anyone wanting to apply the knowledge.
I have put TDD to work since the moment I learned it and it has made me realize how to construct software, so in essence, it has helped me a nonprogrammer, start thinking like one.
I totally recommend anyone reading this to take this opportunity and become fluent in Python once and for all.

Most of all, this course helped me unlock some very powerful abilities of Python that I didn't even know about. After you take this course, you'll be confidently doing test-driven development like a pro!
Scaling Python With Generators
Next-Level Python
The [top secret] section is a great example of not just being taught to use a tool, but is used by this amazing teacher to further my understanding of the way Python ITSELF is designed...
All modules are structured properly and the way you break down each and every topic was very good...
It's a great course and you are really providing the rare content which is more focused on becoming a great developer. Thank you for making me a seasoned Python developer :)
The instructor is a methodical, erudite, patient and highly focused teacher who goes to great lengths to explicate and get into all the nooks and crannies of his subject matter.
By the end of the course, if followed assiduously, you will certainly have raised your Python game.
By the end (assuming you have completed all the labs) you will certainly find yourself far more knowledgeable about Python.
This course is excellent value, and highly recommended.
