Agentic coding foundations
One of the more important modules in the Boosted Code curriculum is called:
"Agentic Coding Foundations"
In which you learn the key ideas, concepts, distinctions, skills and techniques that everyone should know first, when they start to use AI coding agents.
There are other topics you want to know about too (like sandboxing, etc.) that are taught in other courses. But these are the important basics.
Which is why it's the #1 course in BC's Agentic Coding track, and the prerequisite of every other course in that track.
Here's what covers:
-
Understanding Coding Agents: how they leverage LLMs, their modes of operation, how exactly they are nondeterministic (a word that gets thrown around without thinking about what it means), and more
-
Providers, models, and how to choose an llm
-
Build vs plan modes. how and when to use both
-
Prompt sequencing strategies
-
Spec-driven development for coding agents
-
Sessions and session management
-
Agent rules: how to work with with them, their challenges and shortcomings
-
Overview of agent skills (with examples)
-
How coding agents decide when to use agent skills
-
Creating quality agent skills, with custom tools and resources
-
Agent skill traps
-
Mature codebase strategies
This is the first set of things you want to learn, and learn well. Just completing this course alone will put you ahead of many folks who already are using coding agents every day.
And like I said, this is just the first module in the Agentic Coding track. Which is just one of four tracks so far in Boosted Code.
